Continuous Improvement Engineer

The Role – Continuous Improvement Engineer
Reporting to the Engineering Continuous Improvement Manager, as a Continuous Improvement Engineer your responsibilities will involve the planning of engineering shutdowns, supporting the Engineering Stores Inventory Controller and administering the Engineering Computerised Maintenance Management System.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting HSE and Quality teams to address any audit actions, customer complaints or other corrective or preventative actions relevant to the department
- Liaising with contractors, production leaders and the engineering department to plan and execute engineering shutdown work across the site
- Identifying and building kitting lists to allow PPM work to flow efficiently
- Analysing shutdown workflows to reduce the length of plant outage while maintaining equipment efficiently
- Providing cover for and assisting the current Inventory Controller to carry out transactional data in SAP, booking inventory out etc.
- Identifying critical inventory and removing obsolete items
- Linking inventory items to assets in use on plant
- Assisting with routine cycle counts
- Identifying critical plant assets and developing a planned maintenance regime to maximise production uptime
- Writing or updating existing Standard Operating Procedures to underpin each PPM schedule
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of the Agility CMMS
- Driving the integration of Agility with SAP
- Moving Agility from a predominantly frequency-based CMMS system to a run time and condition-based system, this could include the automatic generation of work orders by the assets on plant
- Developing and providing bespoke reports

As the Continuous Improvement Engineer, you’ll be working at our site in Swinton (Greater Manchester) and will benefit from:
- Permanent contract, working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
- Salary in the region of £28,000 to £32,000

Our Requirements – Continuous Improvement Engineer
- A background in an engineering discipline
- A recognised Engineering qualification
- Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System
- Confident using Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- High level of attention to detail and ability to spot opportunities for improvement
- Ability to communicate effectively with contractors and colleagues at all levels
- Willingness to undertake further training and development
- Self-motivated with ability to use own initiative, prioritise tasks and work well under pressure
- Good time management skills in order to meet tight deadlines
- Team player who demonstrates a high level of commitment, adopts a flexible and positive approach
Although not essential, the following is desirable:
- Good understanding of planned maintenance and work scheduling
- Knowledge of TPM methodologies
- Experience of inventory control and project management
- Experience working within an engineering stores environment
- Familiarity with the Agility CMMS system and SAP
- Forklift truck licence
