Event Marshall (Customer Service)

We are the astonishing kingdom of Longleat, an eccentrically British place of imagination and astonishing experiences. For over 50 years we have been one of the UK’s most loved attractions. With over one million guests last year, we are passionate about providing immersive experiences that bring family and friends together to create memories that will last a lifetime.

We’re an organisation driven by our core cultural values, which are to engage and inspire, put people first, take accountability, continuously improve and to act with integrity. We believe everyone who works at Longleat can subscribe to these values, and that they truly set us apart as a place to work. Last year was the 70th anniversary of the House and grounds opening to the public.

Longleat is very excited to be hosting our brand-new Land of Light event for the first time ever, starting in November 2020, specially designed and developed by us to offer a magical, festive and immersive experience that we can all celebrate together at Longleat.

Our Land of Light event invites guests to illuminate their senses as the Longleat Estate springs into gleaming life, creating a spellbinding sensory walk of discovery for everyone to enjoy, with a myriad of magic light installations emerging across the Park and its sprawling grounds.

What will this customer service-focused role of Event Marshall entail?

As an Event Marshall, you’ll perform a vital role as the public face of our Land of Light event, ensuring that our customers have an enjoyable, positive and safe experience. You will provide excellent customer service, directing and interacting with guests to ensure they remain safe at all times.

Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Setting up the Land of Light routes to ensure all barriers are in position
  • Clearing any hazards and controlling entry and exit of guests
  • Monitoring guest flows and ensuring social distancing measures are adhered to at all times
  • Providing information to guests and interacting with the light zones where you are positioned

There is also the opportunity to deliver performance and scripting throughout the Land of Light trail if this is something you would be interested in doing, but is not essential.

What will I need to be considered for this Event Marshall vacancy?

  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to work as part of a team within a public facing environment
  • Flexible can-do attitude with an approachable and enthusiastic manner
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and make balanced decisions

Although not essential, proven experience of marshalling for evening events would be highly advantageous.

The Package

As an Event Marshall you’ll receive a pay rate of £10 per hour, in addition to a range of attractive benefits that include;

  • Complimentary tickets to Longleat
  • Discounts on food and beverages and retail merchandise
  • Life assurance cover and more perks

You’ll be employed on a fixed term contract until 10th of January 2021, working up to 30 hours per week, over a 7 day rota from 3:30pm to 9:30pm. Please note, due to the nature of the business evenings and weekend work will be required, including bank holidays.
