Fuel Point / Vehicle Servicing Assistant (6-month fixed term contract)

A varied role that will see you putting your interest in mechanics and vehicle maintenance to great use as part of the busy Arriva TrainCare train servicing depot in Cambridge.

Working alongside a team of Fitters who will be carrying out rail vehicle maintenance and checks, you’ll carry out overnight servicing on a variety of customer trains as part of Arriva TrainCare.

Your duties will include fuelling traction units, replenishing coolants, oils, sanding systems and screenwash, and filling and emptying water tanks.

The package

You will be employed on a 6 month fixed term contract, working an average of 35 hours per week, on a 4 on / 4 off night shift roster working 19:30pm to 05:30am.

You’ll receive a starting salary of £18,088 per annum (pro rata), equivalent to a pay rate of £9.93 per hour, rising incrementally to £20,670 per annum following the completion of training. You will also receive the following benefits:

What will I need to be considered for this Vehicle Servicing / Fuel Attendant role?

  • You’ll love getting hands on and have an interest in mechanics, engineering and vehicle maintenance, ideally with an NVQ Level 2 in Engineering or BTEC / City & Guilds equivalent
  • You may have worked in an MOT centre, garage or vehicle servicing environment; however this isn’t essential as full training will be provided
  • Educated to a minimum of GCSE level and have basic IT skills
  • Ability to problem solve and communicate well as part of a team and on your own
