Longleat Forestry (part of the Longleat Enterprises group) services an enormous 3,600 hectares of woodland, parkland, agricultural land and property. Within these 3,600 hectares, the Longleat Forest comprises of 1,294 hectares and operates as a commercial continuous cover forestry plantation.

Having coined the phrase ‘continuous cover forestry’ in 1978, the dedicated and passionate team of professional forestry experts have successfully managed the woodlands for over 40 years, picking up several silvicultural awards in the process.

From a commercial point of view, this award-winning method enables the team to sustainably harvest 2000 tonnes of firewood annually, and from a conservational aspect it also allows them to help manage the habitats of the forest’s native wildlife.

In addition to supporting the native wildlife, Longleat Forestry also produces wood that helps create habitats similar to those that the animals of our Safari Park would experience in the wild, which enriches their lives with natural environments.
