Grounds / Property Maintenance Operative

What will this role of Grounds / Property Maintenance Operative entail?

As a Grounds / Property Maintenance Operative you’ll work as part of the Rakes and Ladders Team delivering a range of grounds and property maintenance services, whilst ensuring a safe working environment. You’ll also be responsible for providing support and guidance to Apprentices and Trainees. Your main duties will include although not be limited to;

  • Carrying out general grounds maintenance and gardening works such as grass cutting, collection of refuse, hedge cutting etc. in addition to basic property maintenance such as erecting / repairing fencing and clearing and repairing gutters
  • Advising, guiding and supporting Apprentices and Trainees enabling them to improve their skills and achieve their qualifications
  • Taking responsibility for vehicles, equipment and machinery, ensuring they are secured, cleaned, and maintained regularly
  • Ensuring that all records such as inventories of equipment and materials, mileage sheets etc. are completed promptly and accurately

What will I need in order to be considered for this Grounds / Property Maintenance Operative role?

  • Either have an NVQ level 2 (or above) in horticultural or trade qualifications and / or proven experience working in a grounds maintenance / horticultural role
  • Competent in the use of horticultural related machinery (e.g. brush cutter, lawn mower (push and ride on), hedge trimmer)
  • Comfortable with everyday Welsh conversations, specifically in relation to the job
  • Knowledge of Environmental and Waste laws, with a good understanding of health and safety legislation and requirements including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) and hand arm vibration
  • Ability to motivate and support Trainees and Apprentices
  • Solid written communication skills for record keeping
  • A full driving licence

What will I receive in return?

Salary: £19,169 per annum

Location: Field based working at North Wales Housing properties across North Wales as advised on a daily basis.

Contract type: Permanent, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
