Welder / Fabricator

Arriva TrainCare have 4 x 12-month fixed term contract opportunities available for Welder / Fabricators to join the busy Crewe depot, working on the exciting 150 PRM program.

You’ll receive an hourly rate of £18.02 based on a 40-hour week, which equates to a salary of £37,481 along with fantastic additional benefits including 27 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata), pension, healthcare cover, Arriva Travel Pass, Cycle to Work scheme and Arriva Village retailer discount scheme.   

You’ll work 4 nights per week Monday to Thursday 9:30pm to 7am, which can be subject to change for business needs so flexibility will be required but notice will be given.

What will this role of Welder / Fabricator entail?

Reporting to the Team Leader, as a Welder / Fabricator you’ll efficiently carry out maintenance of Rail Vehicles to laid down standards and procedures. You’ll also drive rail vehicles as required within depot operating limits.

What will I need to be considered for this Welder / Fabricator role?

  • Proven welding, fabricating and mechanical fitting experience
  • Time served craft apprenticeship or similar
  • Understanding and ability to weld steel components in accordance with BS EN 1011-1 recommendations
  • Driver operator / shunter assessment in relevant class of vehicle
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards and requirements
