Interim HSEQ Manager – 6 months fixed term contract

Arriva TrainCare provides Light and Heavy Train Maintenance services to the railway industry from its five strategically located maintenance depots. The successful, rapidly evolving organisation is going through a massive transformation at real pace, with a strong order book for 2020 and beyond.

What will this Interim HSEQ Manager role entail?

As the Interim HSEQ Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving the development of a proactive, responsive and qualitative HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment and Quality) service that will support the business in all safety related matters.

You’ll also be responsible for achieving, maintaining, retaining and leading continuous improvement within ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and EFQM standards. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Providing full HSEQ support for all areas of the business
  • Assisting and undertaking all levels of performance monitoring including site inspections, safety tours, safe methods of work, accident investigations and report writing
  • Assisting in the development of Health and Safety Management Systems including policy formulation, risk assessment, procedures, instructions and forms
  • Undertaking HSEQ audits (internal and external) to ensure legislative and customer requirements are met

As the Interim HSEQ Manager, you’ll be employed on a 6-month fixed term contract and work from our head office in Crewe, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Travel to other ATC sites will be required on occasion. You’ll receive a competitive salary level dependent on experience, plus great additional benefits including:

What will I need to be considered for this Interim HSEQ Manager role?

You will need proven experience of:

  • Providing complex HSEQ support, ideally gained within a rail (preferred) or heavy engineering environment
  • Formulating, implementing and revising Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Managing audits undertaken by internal and external bodies
  • Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR)
  • Working to OHSAS 18001, ISO14001, ISO9001 and EFQM / quality standards

You’ll also need:

  • A valid NEBOSH general certificate or equivalent
  • A good understanding and knowledge of the rail vehicle industry and best practices wherein
  • A full valid UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel as required.
