Depot Operative (Cleaner) – 6-month fixed term contract. £9.30 an hour.

Arriva TrainCare provides Light and Heavy Train Maintenance services to the railway industry from its five strategically located maintenance depots. The successful, rapidly evolving organisation is going through a massive transformation at real pace, with a strong order book for 2020 and beyond.

As a Depot Operative (Cleaner), you’ll be responsible for ensuring that depot cleaning is delivered to an excellent standard, along with supporting the Depot Maintenance Team as required.

Duties will include preparing and maintaining cleaning equipment and tools, undertaking fork lift truck operation, strimming (following training) and painting to improve depot standards; and ensuring all documentation / paperwork relating to the work carried out is correctly and fully completed.

You’ll receive a pay rate of £9.30 an hour (equivalent to £18,177 a year (pro rata)), along with fantastic additional benefits including: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata) pension, healthcare cover, Arriva Travel Pass, Cycle to Work scheme and Arriva Village retailer discount scheme.

You’ll be employed on a 6-month fixed term contract, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday at our depot in Crewe.

What will I need to be considered for this Depot Operative (Cleaner) role?

  • Previous experience working as a cleaner is essential, ideally within a commercial / industrial environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team and independently, using own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a positive attitude
  • Basic IT skills

Although not essential, previous involvement and understanding of train maintenance depots is desirable for this Depot Operative (Cleaner) role.
