Laboratory Technician

Superb career opportunity for an individual with a strong work ethic and experience with AI biology or a biology aptitude with a background of working within a commercial laboratory environment, to join the quality focused team within the Laboratory at Cogent located in Aldford near Chester.

What will the role of Laboratory Technician entail?

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, as a Laboratory Technician your duties will include although not be limited to; the preparation, operation and maintenance of production flow cytometry sorters; semen assessment, processing and freezing; and record keeping.

What will I need to be considered for this Laboratory Technician vacancy?

  • Proven experience of AI biology, or a biological aptitude with experience of working within a commercial laboratory environment
  • Experience of flow cytometry or be able to demonstrate the ability to understand key semen sorting factors
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Methodical approach, with superb organisation skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Confidence with IT interfaces and systems
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards approaching and tackling challenges

What will I receive in return?

As a Laboratory Technician, you’ll receive a competitive salary and a range of additional benefits including 21 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 23 days after one year of employment and 25 days after two years of employment), pension scheme and life assurance.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 36 hours per week within Monday to Friday on a rotating 3 week 8-hour shift pattern, with shift times to cover 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, and 10pm to 6am (night shifts exclude Friday nights).
