Manufacturing Engineer / Project Engineer (Electrical bias)

What will this role of Manufacturing Engineer / Project Engineer entail?

This key role will involve driving operational improvement via standardised production of the several key products, as well as increasing the technical strength of the team.

As the Manufacturing / Project Engineer, you will provide technical support to the Operations team,  work with inputs from customer requirements, analyse and improve standardised products and identify opportunities for expanding the range of engineered solutions. Day to day and project responsibilities will require you to:

  • Control and release paperwork to the production area
  • Undertake methodology of gathering evidence required by compliance control plans, including hands on testing as required
  • Identify certified and compliant equipment to be procured and identify suppliers
  • Troubleshoot in the production area
  • Submit CAPEX recommendations based on your product knowledge
  • Undertake some minor equipment repair and improvements
  • Develop existing configurable products into standardised solutions
  • Remove over processing functions within the current build plans
  • Develop production document packs
  • Develop newest product range into a fully productionised, standardised solution

You will be based in the company premises in Middlewich, employed on a permanent contract with full time hours. Your package will include:

  • Salary in the region of £30,000 to £40,000 level dependent on experience
  • 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays

What will I need to be considered for this Manufacturing Engineer / Project Engineer vacancy?

  • Be a multi-skilled Engineer with an electrical bias and willingness to gain expertise in other areas
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, or an equivalent qualification along with minimum 5 years’ experience working within in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to translate electrical and mechanical specifications to instructions and general assembly drawings
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing
  • Superb critical thinking skills
  • Highly proficient with Solidworks (modelling and drawing creation)
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, and controlled database management software
  • Knowledge of problem-solving tools; 8D: Ishikawa diagrams, 5-why analysis
  • High level of competence with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

Although not essential, an understanding of Kaizen and DMAIC principles would be advantageous.
