Operations Supervisor

Cheddar Gorge and Caves (part of the Longleat Enterprises group) is a world-famous site set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of Britain's most spectacular natural landmarks. From its awe-inspiring cliffs to its extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves, Cheddar Gorge & Caves holds many fascinating secrets about our prehistoric ancestors and is an international centre for caving and rock climbing. At 400ft deep and 3 miles long, England’s largest gorge with its spectacular pinnacles and beautiful caves (one is over 500,000 years old!) offer visitors an exciting day out all year round.

What will this role of Operations Supervisor entail?

As an Operations Supervisor, you will enjoy a dynamic and varied role where you will be required to make decisions and reactively respond to situations as they present themselves, ensuring that guests, staff and members of the public have a safe and memorable experience whilst visiting Cheddar Caves and Gorge.

You will cover for the Operations Manager in their absence and as such will be the key representative of the wider Longleat enterprise. You will ensure the effective day to day operation of Cheddar Gorge and Caves through the supervision and management of staff, buildings and contractors with varied responsibilities to include, but not limited to:

  • Training and developing the team to ensure high levels of customer service across all areas of responsibility
  • Working with the Operations Manager in the development of the products and services that Cheddar Caves offers
  • Managing and controlling all budgets relating to sales, payroll, variable costs and bottom line profit
  • To be the key contact when any contractor / inspector arrives on site

What will I need to be considered for this Operations Supervisor vacancy?

  • Proven experience of supervising a visitor attraction / large leisure environment
  • Experience of line management of staff
  • First Aid Qualification
  • Full UK Driving Licence with experience of driving a range of vehicles, including off road
  • Be able to cope well under pressure and work to tight deadlines
  • Self-motivated with excellent customer service skills

As an Operations Supervisor you will receive a salary of circa £19,500 per annum, in addition to a range of attractive benefits that include;

Contract: Permanent. 40 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7. Earliest rota’d start time from 8am, and latest finish time up to 6pm. Rota’s will include weekends.
