Despatch Administrator / Logistics Coordinator

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide.

Zirconium chemicals are produced at the site from a range of raw materials. Our lightweight magnesium alloys are machined or extruded to custom shapes and specifications to meet our customer requirements, and are used in high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1.

We are a forward-thinking business with approximately 300 employees across the UK.

What will I receive?

As a Despatch Administrator / Logistics Coordinator you’ll receive a salary between £22,000 and £26,000 (level dependent upon experience) and additional benefits including 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and free on-site parking.

You will be employed on a 12-month fixed term contract, working 37 hours per week within Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, with flexibility required to meet business needs.

Location: Swinton (Greater Manchester)

What will this role of Despatch Administrator / Logistics Coordinator entail?

Reporting to the Planning and Materials Manager, as a Despatch Administrator / Logistics Coordinator you’ll take on a varied role which will see you perform a range of tasks, such as preparing and arranging transport and documents for the shipping of products. Further duties will include;

  • Communicating with customer service and warehouse teams to ensure goods are despatched on time and in full
  • Providing daily updates to all internal stakeholders as required
  • Managing and arranging inter-company shipments between factories and warehouses
  • Communicating directly with suppliers and customers, and resolving any shipping issues they may have
  • Arranging collections / returns from suppliers and customers
  • Booking couriers online and manually notifying customers / sales of shipping details

What will I need in order to be considered for this Despatch Administrator / Logistics Coordinator vacancy?

  • Proven experience of working within a logistics arena, with experience of booking and processing deliveries
  • Good GCSE grades in Science, Maths and English, or equivalent level of qualification
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to use own initiative, prioritise tasks and work unsupervised
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately, with a high level of attention to detail
