Health, Safety and Environment Advisor (x 2 vacancies)

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide.

Zirconium chemicals are produced at the site from a range of raw materials. Our lightweight magnesium alloys are machined or extruded to custom shapes and specifications to meet our customer requirements, and are used in high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1.

We are a forward-thinking business with approximately 300 employees across the UK.

What will this role of Health and Safety Advisor (HSE) entail?

As part of continual improvement, Luxfer MEL Technologies is looking at expanding the HSE department to help in delivering a positive safety culture across all aspects of the 45-acre site. We are seeking two highly driven individuals to help ensure site safety and environmental compliance, through effective HSE strategies, policies and procedures.

Reporting to the HSE Manager, as a Health, Safety and Environment Advisor your duties will include:

  • Driving a positive safety culture, supporting incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Undertaking internal audits
  • Managing scheduled activity undertaken by both internal and external providers
  • Gathering and interpreting data and reporting findings to management, including monitoring regular KPIs to drive continuous improvement
  • Keeping abreast of HSE legislative requirements and changes, and working with HSE and regulatory teams to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Delivering toolbox talks
  • Leading 5s activity
  • Supporting conformance to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
  • Leading by example, coaching employees to develop ‘safety first’ behaviour
  • Liaising with Luxfer MEL Technologies sites regarding best practice

What will I need in order to be considered for this Health, Safety and Environment Advisor (HSE) vacancy?

  • Previous experience working in a HSE role in a manufacturing setting
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (Tech IOSH)
  • Experience in carrying out internal audits
  • Experience working at a 14001 accredited facility
  • Knowledge of practical HSE principles and practices as well as HSE legislation
  • A good standard of computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Minimum 3 A-levels at grade C or above (or equivalent or higher academic qualification)

What will I receive in return?

As a Health, Safety and Environment Advisor, you’ll receive a salary in the region of £22,000 to £26,000 level dependent on experience, along with the potential to earn a bonus. You’ll also receive a range of benefits including 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension and company share option scheme, employee performance recognition scheme and free on-site parking.

You will be employed on a permanent contract, working 37 hours per week within Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, with flexibility required to meet business needs.

Location: Swinton (Greater Manchester).
