Head of Procurement / Procurement Manager

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide.

Zirconium chemicals are produced at the site from a range of raw materials. Our lightweight magnesium alloys are machined or extruded to custom shapes and specifications to meet our customer requirements, and are used in high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1.

We are a forward-thinking business with approximately 300 employees across the UK & US and are seeking to appoint a Head of Procurement / Procurement Manager to manage the Procurement Team within Luxfer MEL Technologies.

What will I receive in return?

As the Head of Procurement / Procurement Manager, you’ll receive a salary between £50,000 to £70,000, level dependent on experience, and the potential to earn an annual bonus. You will also receive:

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working predominantly Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Flexibility with working hours will be required due to the nature of the role.

What will this role of Head of Procurement / Procurement Manager entail?

As the Head of Procurement you will take the lead on ensuring the company’s strategy and goals are achieved using LEAN best practice techniques whilst improving overall procurement efficiency. You will be responsible for the achievement of cost savings from within the Procurement Team to ensure Luxfer MEL Technologies remains globally competitive.

Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Taking ownership and leadership of the procurement function
  • Negotiating key contracts whilst tracking the cost base
  • Developing procurement category plans and focusing on risk management strategies
  • Managing the full tendering process and contract drafting
  • Key stakeholder management across the business
  • Supplier management and engagement
  • Leading on market scoping to support all procurement activities and managing risk
  • Procurement process management
  • Comparing proposals for price and specifications
  • Purchasing goods, materials and services to ensure the company’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality and delivery
  • Providing analysis on costs, new and existing, and reviewing cost reduction activities

What will I need to be considered for this Head of Procurement / Procurement Manager vacancy?

  • Proven experience as a Head of Procurement / Procurement Manager gained within the FMCG industry, ideally automotive, with knowledge of purchasing and negotiation
  • MCIPS qualification
  • Experience of working with Tier 1 suppliers
  • Cost driven and commercially minded with strong analytical skills
  • IT literate, with advanced Microsoft Office abilities including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Superb communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • An assertive and resilient nature
