Production Operator (Shift Work) – Permanent contract with full time hours.

Hydro Aluminium Deeside is based on the Wrexham Industrial Estate, producing up to 63,000 tonnes of high-quality extrusion ingots (billets) per year, recycling a mix of end-of-life scrap and process scrap. Although we are part of a globally successful organisation, the 50-person team based within the Wrexham site feel more like family than colleagues, and we understand our people are our number one asset.

The Package and Hours of Work

As a Production Operator, you will benefit from:

You’ll be working at our site on Wrexham Industrial Estate in North Wales, and will be employed on a permanent contract with full time hours

The working pattern is 2 x 12-hour days (7am to 7pm), followed by 2 x 12-hour nights (7pm to 7am) then 4 days off, and this pattern repeats continuously. You will need to be able to work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends.

The Role - Production Operator

As a Production Operator, you will be one of only six colleagues on a shift. Your work will be varied, requiring flexibility and a willingness to get involved in a range of tasks. Accuracy is essential to ensure that production requirements and standards are met consistently, making every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising safety or quality.

Your duties will include, although will not be limited to:

  • Driving a range of vehicles (FLT, side-loader, load shovels), for which training will be given, but a FLT license is preferred as a starting point
  • Operating a range of machinery, including overhead cranes
  • Working cooperatively within the Production Team to meet goals, following all written and verbal instructions, and demonstrating a positive and professional attitude
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work area, observing all safety guidelines and reporting safety concerns to management
  • Regular use of computers, including Microsoft Office and manufacturing systems

After becoming a competent Production Operator there may be opportunities to learn an additional skill which, when complete, will bring with it an increased salary.

Our Requirements – Production Operator

  • Experience working shifts (including nights and weekends) within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, or engineering environment
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English
  • Good basic literacy, numeracy, and computer skills
  • Take pride in delivering quality, accurate work
  • Flexible, pro-active, and self-motivating approach to work
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Friendly and open with honesty and integrity
  • Clean appearance
