The Package

• 2 year fixed-term contract

The Role – Apprentice Grounds Maintenance Operative

This role will involve working at properties across North Wales. You’ll be supported with full training as you work towards a recognised qualification, whilst gaining practical experience in a range of grounds and property maintenance duties, becoming skilled with a range of hand tools and assisting with:

• Horticultural operations including pruning, seasonal bedding, pest and disease control, general grass and hedge cutting, and irrigation
• Clearing and maintaining gullies, water features, water courses etc.
• Repairing, installing and maintaining fences, barriers, gates, bollards and other street furniture
• Collecting and disposing of litter
• Hard and soft landscaping projects
• Property maintenance duties

Working towards your recognised qualification will include the completion of workplace assessments, along with some days attending college over the course of your apprenticeship.

Our Requirements – Apprentice Grounds Maintenance Operative

• Comfortable with everyday conversations in Welsh
• Willingness to undertake any relevant training
• Flexible and conscientious approach to work, always happy to get involved and help out colleagues across the organisation
• Ability to establish and sustain good working relationships within a team environment, and to work alone
• A good level of literacy and numeracy
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Although not essential (as full training will be provided), knowledge of hand tools, materials, and an appreciation of safety or experience working in a similar environment would be advantageous, as would a UK driving licence.
