Veterinary Administration Assistant / Youngstock Rearer

Due to continued business growth, the company is looking for a Veterinary Administration Assistant / Youngstock Rearer to take on a dual livestock and veterinary administrative role focused on all aspects of rearing bull welfare and biosecurity, and providing administrative support to the company vet.

What will this role of Veterinary Administration Assistant / Youngstock Rearer entail?

Reporting to the Livestock Manager, as a Veterinary Administration Assistant / Youngstock Rearer you will be responsible for all aspects of bull and livestock welfare, including feeding, cleaning, bedding, and moving stock as required. Your duties will also include but not be limited to:

  • Organising the testing and movement of new breeding bulls from farm to Cogent facility
  • Tracking sample submissions and acquiring DNA and parentage results for purchased bulls
  • Ensuring all database records are accurately maintained and up to date

What will I need to be considered for this Veterinary Administration Assistant / Youngstock Rearer vacancy?

  • Experience of animal husbandry and rearing young stock
  • Experience of completing farm / veterinary administration
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

As a Veterinary Administration Assistant / Youngstock Rearer, you’ll receive a salary of circa. £23,000, along with additional benefits that include 21 days annual leave plus bank holidays, rising to 25 days with length of service, company matching pension scheme and life insurance.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract with full time hours, and work on a 7-day rota that will include spring and summer public holidays. Flexibility will be required to meet business needs. You’ll work from our facilities in Aldford, near Chester.
