Chemical Projects Engineer

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a strategic chemical development project. The role will be based in Swinton, Greater Manchester with some international travel.

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide. LMT provides innovative products and solutions for use in a broad range of markets including Aerospace, Automotive, Catalysis, Oil and Gas, Ceramics and Healthcare. We are a forward-thinking business with approximately 300 employees across the UK.

What will this role of Chemical Projects Engineer entail?

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, as a Chemical Projects Engineer, you will deliver CAPEX projects from inception to commissioning on the LMT Chemical Sites. Your duties will include, although not be limited to;

  • Developing investment strategies and project deliverables in consultation with line managers and other senior management
  • Delivering multiple projects to meet anticipated performance requirements and deliver expected business benefits, ensuring it is on time and within budget
  • Liaising with all project stakeholders to ensure that the plant meets business needs
  • Effectively controlling all elements of project budgets from RFA stage, through FEED to multiple vendor quotations or RFQ’s
  • Installation of plant in a safe manner in compliance with relevant legislation e.g. CDM 2015 regulations, REACh, PUWER
  • Complying with all planning and building regulations, along with the company policy on Health, Safety and Environment
  • Working across the business, including liaising with colleagues in the US in relation to projects

What will I need in order to be considered for this Chemical Projects Engineer vacancy?

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
  • Proven experience in an operational site engineering management position, with experience of chemical process plant
  • PRINCE2, PMBOK, BIM or other relevant project management training
  • NEBOSH or equivalent safety training, with experience of participating in HAZOP
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint & Project or similar project management software
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally

What will I receive in return?

As a Chemical Projects Engineer, you’ll receive a salary in the region of £50,000 to £55,000 level dependent on experience, along with the potential to earn up to 15% of annual salary, as an annual bonus. You’ll also receive a range of benefits including 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pension and company share option scheme, employee performance recognition scheme and free on-site parking.

You will be employed on a permanent contract, working 37 hours per week within Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, with flexibility required to meet business needs.

Location: Swinton (Greater Manchester), with occasional international travel and therefore flexibility will be required.
