1st Line Technical Support and IT Projects Coordinator

Due to significant growth, the IT team at Luxfer MEL Technologies is rapidly expanding. You’ll bring your experience of providing 1st Line IT Helpdesk Support, collaborative approach, and hunger to succeed, to help evolve the culture of our team, improve our internal customer service standards, and in turn benefit from career development within our growing company.

Our Company

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide. We have approximately 300 employees across the UK & US.

Zirconium chemicals are produced at the Swinton & Flemington NJ sites from a range of raw materials to service multiple niche markets including, automotive, refinery, biomass, coatings, pharmaceutical and military / defence. Our lightweight magnesium alloys are machined or extruded to custom shapes and specifications to meet our customer requirements, and are used in high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1.

The Role – 1st Line Technical Support and IT Projects Coordinator

Reporting to the IT Manager, as 1st Line Technical Support and IT Projects Coordinator, you will play a key role as you coordinate technical resources and interact with internal and external parties at all levels to help improve service delivery and contribute to the culture of our team.

Your duties will include, although will not be limited to:

  • Providing first line technical support to identify faults
  • Coordinating technical resources to resolve support requests in a timely manner
  • Working towards management and ownership of the helpdesk function and implementation of KPIs
  • Providing user training and focus group initiatives to increase user self-sufficiency and knowledge
  • Managing third party suppliers, vendors and procurement
  • Asset management of IT equipment and licenses
  • Assisting with IT financial planning, annual and project budgets
  • Developing a knowledgebase for users and the IT Team
  • Coordinating project activities and milestones to ensure deadlines are met, leading to project management and ownership
  • Supporting auditing requirements, collating reports and evidence and interacting with internal and external auditors
  • Supporting SAP segregation of duties, roles and authorisation functional tasks

Our Requirements – 1st Line Technical Support and IT Projects Coordinator

  • Proven experience of working on a first line IT Helpdesk
  • Experience of using / managing an IT ticketing system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Flexible approach in a fast-paced environment, with excellent time-management skills
  • Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail

Although not essential, experience of working within a manufacturing company and / or experience providing 2nd Line IT Helpdesk support, along with supervisory or team management experience, would be highly advantageous, as would an ITIL Foundation 4 Certification.

  • Salary in the region of £30,000 to £35,000, with the level dependent on experience
