NPI (New Product Introduction) Quality Engineer

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide. Our lightweight magnesium alloys are machined or extruded to custom shapes and specifications to meet our customer requirements, and are used in high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1.

We are a forward-thinking business with approximately 300 employees across the UK and US.

The Role – NPI Quality Engineer

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, as NPI Quality Engineer you will be responsible for embedding quality requirements into the New Product Development projects, specifically relating to Magnesium growth projects. Your duties will include:

  • Capturing all Quality Management System and customer specific requirements through the design, development, and validation stages of projects
  • Supporting Business Development Managers and Sales teams with customer certification, enquires, and prototype orders
  • Reviewing enquiries for customer specification requirements
  • Updating SAP and associated systems with all quality information
  • Working with the technical teams to facilitate APQP and PPAP activities, including validating new products and processes to achieve zero defects in product launches
  • Implementing new processes to ensure customer requirements can be achieved
  • Monitoring the flow down requirements for sub-contractors, to define and maintain the required technical, quality and service level in the design and development stages
  • Verifying returning goods from vendors and sub-contractors conform to all requirements

The Package – NPI Quality Engineer

As the NPI Quality Engineer, you will benefit from:

  • A salary in the region of £35,000 to £40,000 with the level dependent on qualifications and experience, plus the potential to earn an annual bonus

  • Working from our site in Swinton (Greater Manchester), Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Flexibility with working hours will be required due to the nature of the role

Our Requirements – NPI Quality Engineer

  • Experience of working in a quality or engineering department, or in a similar role
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Science or an Engineering related subject
  • IT literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to plan and schedule project work with excellent time management skills
  • High level of attention to detail and practical problem solving skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
