Buyer - Indirect Commodity Buyer

The Role – Indirect Commodity Buyer

Reporting to both the Supply Chain Director and Operations Commodity Lead, as an Indirect Commodity Buyer, you will ensure effective and efficient flow of goods and sub-contract services into Héroux Devtek.

You will also develop long-term improvements in quality, cost and delivery performance whilst maintaining good supplier relationships, and where appropriate introducing and managing Long Term Supplier Agreements.                                                                       

Your duties will include:

  • Developing positive relationships with direct purchasing and other internal functions
  • Maintaining accurate data within the ERP system (INFOR LN)
  • Managing all supplier relationships and contracts, and conducting performance reviews
  • Undertaking commercial negotiations and conducting longer term cost planning based on commodity strategy and external market trends
  • Developing and deploying an integrated approach to a wide range of purchasing related cost reduction activities
  • Implementing a robust cost management system in conjunction with the Finance team
  • Ensuring delivery and quality performance of assigned commodities in conjunction with the Quality department
  • Working alongside the Quality department to ensure that all suppliers have appropriate quality systems and regular auditing is completed

Our Requirements – Indirect Commodity Buyer

  • Experience with indirect commodity buying and materials management
  • Experience in strategic planning and industry analysis at commodity level
  • Experience in supplier relationship management
  • Working knowledge of supply chain functionality on an ERP system and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Proven track record in delivering results in favourable and unfavourable conditions
  • Qualification such as a degree or CIPS
  • Full driving licence
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with unplanned demands and prioritise workload in line with changing demands
  • Driven, with a will to develop new skills and progress within the company

You’ll work from our office in Runcorn and be employed on a 6 month fixed term contract, working Monday to Thursday 8am to 4:30pm, and Friday 8am to 1pm.
