ICT Technician

The Hammond School is the North West’s leading provider of performing arts education and the UK’s oldest vocational dance school, which prides itself on strong pastoral care; nurturing, guiding and helping every student to be the best possible version of themselves.

Housed in the historic Hoole Bank House and surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, the campus comprises a Performing Arts Centre with a 420-seat theatre and state-of-the-art dance and music studios. Situated on the outskirts of Chester, The Hammond is located within an hour’s drive of Manchester and Liverpool, and is two hours from London by train.

What will this role of ICT Technician entail?

As the ICT Technician, you’ll be responsible for the information and communication technology across the whole school and boarding houses. You’ll provide appropriate proactive and innovative ICT support for the school’s students, staff and visitors, and hardware and software support for all servers, computers and mobile devices. You’ll have budgetary responsibility for ICT expenses, with your duties to also include but not be limited to:

  • Installing, operating and maintaining network services, firewalls, routers, hubs, NAS, switches and other network / system devices
  • Assisting in the management of user accounts, including resetting passwords and wireless access requests
  • Providing technical support to classroom-based staff on the use of IT equipment, such as whiteboards
  • Creating a long-term plan designed to ensure the IT system keeps up with the needs of the school

What will I need to be considered for this ICT Technician vacancy?

  • Proven hands on experience of managing a complex virtualised server environment, and an IT service / help desk
  • Experience of dealing with Apple technologies within a professional environment
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people

Although not essential, Microsoft and / or VMware certification would be highly advantageous.

You will receive a salary of £26,365 per annum, level dependent on experience, plus a range of additional benefits including 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.

Contract: Permanent, full time hours within Monday to Friday.

Location: Chester (Cheshire)
