Technical Riding Inspector (Rail / Rolling Stock)

Arriva TrainCare provides Light and Heavy Train Maintenance services to the railway industry from our six strategically located maintenance depots across the UK.

As a Technical Riding Inspector, you’ll operate from our Cambridge depot, providing technical support to the customer’s maintenance control regarding in service issues with the XC CL170 fleet.

You’ll receive a salary of £42,037.19 per annum, plus a generous range of benefits including:

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working an average of 40.5 hours per week, 7am to 7pm on a 4 on 4 off shift roster.

What will the role of Technical Riding Inspector (Rail / Rolling Stock) entail?

Reporting to the Depot Manager, as the Technical Riding Inspector your duties will include although not be limited to:

  • Providing technical engineering support of XC CL170 to achieve the highest possible performance and reliability, to include inspection, fault diagnosis and solution development to technical and tooling issues
  • Informing maintenance control of any technical issues raised to them by XC Drivers / Train Crew and offer a solution / repair where possible
  • Undertaking Depot Designated Person (DP) duties for the arrival and departure of XC CL170 sets that operate outside of the night shift rostered times
  • Coaching and mentoring team members, helping develop the technical abilities of Technicians

What will I need to be considered for this Technical Riding Inspector (Rail / Rolling Stock) role?

  • Proven experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle in traffic fault rectification
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and provide technical solutions to problems
  • Understanding of engineering, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Knowledge of applicable health, safety and environmental standards and requirements, including ISO 9001 and 14001
  • Good IT skills in all aspects of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and depot IT systems
  • Full UK driving licence
