Fitter - Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer - Rail Vehicle Heavy Maintenance

Do you have experience in mechanical and / or electrical engineering, along with working knowledge of rail vehicle heavy maintenance activities? If so, at Arriva TrainCare we have an opportunity available to join the Heavy Maintenance team at our depot in Bristol.

At Arriva TrainCare we provide Light and Heavy Train Maintenance services to the railway industry from six strategically located maintenance depots.

As a Fitter - Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer, you’ll receive a salary of £33,244 per annum plus a range of superb benefits including:

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm.

What will this role of Fitter - Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer entail?

As a Fitter, you’ll be responsible for efficiently carrying out the overhaul of rail vehicles to laid down standards and procedure and play an active part in the continuous improvement of product quality. Tasks will include mechanical fitting and electrical installations and repairs whilst supporting the wider team with other tasks.

What will I need in order to be considered for this Fitter - Electrical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer role?

  • Be a time served Mechanical and / or Electrical Engineer with a solid understanding of rail or aircraft heavy maintenance activities
  • Qualified to a minimum of City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or BTEC in Engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental standards and requirements
  • Superb problem solving and organisation skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously
  • Ability to communicate well with other team members
