Health & Safety Manager

Less Common Metals (LCM) is a world leader in the manufacture and supply of complex alloy systems and metals, specialising in those based on rare earth elements.

With many years of experience in the production of materials to tight compositional tolerances and controlled microstructures, the company takes a highly flexible and innovative approach to a wide range of material requirements.

This is an exciting and challenging role for a Health and Safety professional to lead and manage all elements of health and safety at our site in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

The Health & Safety Manager role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, as the Health and Safety Manager you will be committed to ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are maintained at all times, fostering a safe working culture across all areas of operations.

This is a hands on role and whilst adhering to current legislation is important, we expect a good proportion of your time to be spent on the shop floor, understanding our processes and working with employees to continually provide a safe environment to work in.

Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Promoting a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation
  • Developing health and safety management systems
  • Managing health and safety audits, including liaising with external contractors
  • Supporting and developing the health and safety strategy
  • Conducting business risk analysis and risk assessments
  • Keeping the number of health and safety incidents to a minimum  

What will I need to be considered for this Health & Safety Manager vacancy?

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager within an industrial environment, ideally gained within the chemical / metals sector or heavy engineering
  • Have an industry recognised qualification such as the NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with senior management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to work with, provide advice to, train and promote excellence in health and safety for all staff

The Package

As the Health & Safety Manager, you’ll receive a salary of circa £40,000, 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays (rising to 25 days after 3 years), and benefit from an employer contributory pension scheme.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working full time hours Monday to Friday.
