Retail Supervisor (Forestry Shop) – Weekend work, fixed-term contract

Longleat Forestry (part of the Longleat Enterprises group) services an enormous 3,600 hectares of woodland, parkland, agricultural land and property. Within these 3,600 hectares, the Longleat Forest comprises of 1,294 hectares and operates as a commercial continuous cover forestry plantation.

Having coined the phrase ‘continuous cover forestry’ in 1978, the dedicated and passionate team of professional forestry experts have successfully managed the woodlands for over 40 years, picking up several silvicultural awards in the process.

From a commercial point of view, this award-winning method enables the team to sustainably harvest 2000 tonnes of firewood annually, and from a conservational aspect it also allows them to help manage the habitats of the forest’s native wildlife.

In addition to supporting the native wildlife, Longleat Forestry also produces wood that helps create habitats similar to those that the animals of our Safari Park would experience in the wild, which enriches their lives with natural environments.

What will this role of Retail Supervisor (Customer Service) entail?

As a Retail Supervisor you’ll use your excellent customer service skills and friendly nature to provide front of house service for the sale of firewood, Christmas trees and associated products whilst managing the Forestry Retail Shop on weekends. Your duties will include:

  • Maximising the sale of products within the shop
  • Completing effective stock control to minimise wastage, and stocking shop with appropriate levels of merchandise
  • Supervising the weekend retail employees
  • Taking responsibility for processing cash / card / voucher payments
  • Till and weighbridge operation
  • Taking orders and producing delivery notes for firewood deliveries via the phone

What will I need to be considered for this Retail Supervisor (Customer Service) vacancy?

  • Proven experience in a supervisory customer service role
  • An understanding of cash handling procedures and experience of till operation
  • Flexible to work extra hours as required, and adaptable to undertake a variety of tasks

Although not essential as full training will be provided, general office administration experience and an understanding of firewood would be advantageous.

Contract Type: Zero-hour fixed term contract, until the 30th of March 2020 with an immediate start available. Whilst there are no guaranteed hours, you will be mainly working:

  • Saturday, 8am to 4pm, from September to November
  • Saturday, 8am to 4pm, and Sunday, 10am to 4pm, throughout December
  • Saturday, 8am to 4pm, from January to March

Location: Longleat (Warminster, Wiltshire)
