HR Advisor

Founded in 1971 with a vision to improve the safety and efficiency of underwater navigation for divers, Sonardyne has become a world leading independent provider of underwater acoustic, inertial, optical and sonar technology. Our global head office campus is located 40 miles south-west of London, in Blackbushe.

The Role – HR Advisor

Reporting to HR Manager, as the HR Advisor working within a small HR Team comprising Head of HR, HR Manager, HR Coordinator, your focus will be on:

  • Providing support and advice to employees and management across UK and global operations
  • Co-ordinating recruitment and selection activities, participating in some interviews and supporting hiring managers through the recruitment process
  • Delivering new starter activities, including presenting the HR Induction
  • Organising and coordinating short work experience/intern placements and longer-term student placements
  • Coordinating apprenticeships recruitment, while understanding the apprenticeship levy
  • Providing support to HR Manager on ER processes and queries such as disciplinary, grievance, maternity/paternity, attendance, performance management, flexible working requests, probation extensions and undertaking exit interviews
  • Working closely with the HR Manager and Head of HR on Performance Related Pay, pay review and other ad-hoc projects
  • Checking payroll information on a monthly basis before submitting to the Payroll team
  • Being a super user for the HR and Payroll system
  • Developing and circulating standard and ad-hoc reports e.g., sickness absence reporting, Board Report data
  • Coordinating employee benefit administration e.g., Private Medical Insurance, Permanent Health Insurance and Life Assurance schemes
  • Liaising with external Occupational Health provider for employee referrals and coordinating the health surveillance testing
  • Assisting in maintaining the HR Intranet site
  • Being the Soundwaves Employee Consultative Committee Secretary, organising dates and venues for meetings, collating agenda items, taking and circulating accurate meeting minutes
  • Working with the HR Coordinator in the efficient administration of all offer letters and contracts, and starter processes including referencing and right to work checks

The Package

Working Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5pm from our offices in Blackbushe, you will benefit from:

  • Salary up to £36,500 with the level dependent on experience
  • Company performance / profit related annual bonus
  • Fixed term contract until December 2023, with a retention bonus for contract completion
  • Option to work from home up to 3 days per week if preferred, combined with working from the offices in Blackbushe

Our Requirements – HR Advisor

  • Proven experience advising and guiding managers and employees on core HR processes, procedures and practices such as attendance, selection, performance management, and informal grievances
  • Qualified to CIPD Level 5 or 7
  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and applicable UK statutory provisions
  • Good working knowledge of HR systems, including an integrated HR and payroll system
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
