Childline Supervisor (Child Protection / Safeguarding) multiple permanent contract opportunities available, working either full time (35) or part time (28) hours.

Childline is the UK's largest free confidential 24-hour helpline for children and young people, and is a service provided by the NSPCC. Childline Prestatyn is home to one of our 12 Childline bases, from which volunteers and long-standing team members strive to make a difference to thousands of children’s lives.

Demand for our services is significant and growing. It is critical we enable children and young people access to the service when they need it and ensure a quality service is delivered by well trained and experienced practitioners.

The Role – Childline Supervisor (Child Protection / Safeguarding)

Based within our Childline office in Trigg House, Prestatyn, you will supervise a group of paid and volunteer Counsellors to ensure that quality responses are given to every child and young person who contacts Childline. This will include providing feedback, training and support where needed. Specific duties will include:

  • Assessing risk in line with our confidentiality and safeguarding standards
  • Liaising with our external child protection partners such as Children's Services and the Police
  • Developing and reviewing plans for contact management
  • Monitoring and reviewing performances against targets
  • Actively participating in team meetings, and contributing to service development

Our Requirements – Childline Supervisor (Child Protection / Safeguarding)

  • A relevant social care, health or education qualification or experience and / or have substantial experience in engaging with children and young people in a relevant setting
  • Up-to-date knowledge of child protection legislation and practical experience of child protection, safeguarding and welfare issues
  • Superb communication skills, with a passion for customer service and making a difference
  • Good IT skills with the ability to write high quality, evidenced child protection risk assessments

Although not essential, some supervisor or management experience would be advantageous.

The Package 

As a Childline Supervisor, you’ll receive:

  • Salary of £29,607 plus 3.5% shift allowance (pro rata)

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, and you’ll work either 35 or 28 hours per week. We currently have x1 35-hour contract, and x2 28-hour contracts available. Please note, as this is a 24-hour service you would be expected to work a rota pattern which includes a range of day, evening, and weekend shifts.
