Business Development Manager

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide. We have approximately 300 employees across the UK and US.

Zirconium chemicals are produced at our Swinton and Flemington NJ sites from a range of raw materials, to service a number of niche markets including, automotive, refinery, biomass, coatings, pharmaceutical and military/defence. Our lightweight magnesium alloys are machined or extruded to custom shapes and specifications to meet our customer requirements, and are used in high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1.

The Role – Business Development Manager

Working as part of the Zirconium Business Development Team, you will assume day to day management of the opportunities within the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Sector and generate new openings in this market. Your duties will include:

  • Developing and driving opportunities with current and prospective customers
  • Identifying, generating, and commercialising new and existing opportunities
  • Driving market and product development
  • Working closely with the Technical Teams and local Universities, and producing literature for new product and market areas
  • Supporting and coordinating new product introductions to customers and distributors
  • Participating in the innovation of the product portfolio
  • Attending and representing the company at industry conferences and exhibitions
  • Traveling to customers, distributors and events

The Package – Business Development Manager

As a Business Development Manager, you will benefit from:

  • Starting salary in the region of £35,000 to £40,000 plus attractive bonus scheme with the level dependent on experience and qualifications
  • Working from the offices in Swinton, Greater Manchester
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Company pension
  • Opportunity to participate in the company share option scheme
  • Permanent contract, working 37 hours per week predominantly Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Flexibility with working hours will be required due to the nature of the role

Our Requirements – Business Development Manager role

  • Experience gained working in a Business Development role, with a strong technical background, ideally gained in the chemicals or energy industry
  • Positive approach and achievement driven, with a focus on insight and strategy
  • IT literate, with knowledge of CRM software systems and good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to use own initiative, prioritise tasks and work well under pressure
  • Ability to work unsupervised with good time management skills to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to travel internationally

Although not essential, being educated to degree level within a science subject would be advantageous.
