The Role – Senior Java Developer

Working closely with the Head of Development, as Senior Java Developer you’ll receive training and support (if required) to develop your microservices knowledge. Your duties will include:

  • Taking the technical lead on a major internal project to redesign the core legacy Java application using a microservices architecture based on Spring Frameworks to define and implement the solution
  • Assisting, advising, and providing mentoring support to the existing Development Team relating to the new architecture
  • Liaising with customers and colleagues to provide communication and care
  • Monitoring and reviewing targets, making appropriate recommendations, and ensuring that these are carried out
  • Complying with the relevant requirements of ISO 9001 2015 and ISO 27001 2013 standards

The Package

  • A salary in the region of £55,000 to £65,000 and potentially negotiable, level depending on experience
  • Option to work from home (with limited travel to the offices in North Wales, perhaps once a month), or combine this with working from the offices, whichever you prefer
  • Company travel expenses paid
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Permanent contract with full time hours, working Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm

We recently opened new offices in St. Asaph (North Wales), in line with our growth plans. However, some of our team prefer to work fully remotely and we employ individuals throughout the UK.

Our Requirements – Senior Java Developer

You will be required to have a flexible approach to work. Although welcome, microservice design / implementation experience is not essential, as full training will be provided. However, you will need working knowledge of the following:

  • Java 8 or above
  • Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Maven, Nexus, GitLab, Git, Jenkins, Docker, message queues (e.g. RabbitMQ)
  • TDD (JUnit/Mockito/Jacoco)
  • REST API development experience (JSON and XML)
  • Relational Databases - Oracle / MS SQL Server
  • Windows and Linux

Although not essential, knowledge of the following is desirable:

  • Front end web development including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, jQuery, Angular, React
  • ETL/EDI
  • AWS
  • Android mobile development using Java
  • JSP applications (ideally WebObjects)
  • CI/CD ways of working, and familiar with the tools and practices that support a DevOps approach
