Security Manager

A superb opportunity for a professional with senior security management experience within a corporate security / law enforcement / military or hospitality environment to join one of the most stunning stately homes in Britain.

Since its purchase in 1541, fifteen generations of the Thynne family have called Longleat House their home and together they have amassed an incredible collection of fine art, a wealth of rare English, French and Italian furniture, European and Far Eastern ceramics and English silver as well as tens of thousands of historic documents, and seven libraries housing over 44,000 printed books.

As part of Longleat, the House enjoys its share of 1 million visitors each year, providing in depth guided house tours and expertly curated house exhibitions to commemorate important events and famous milestones in history. What will this role of Security Manager entail?

This is a varied and exciting role managing and developing all aspects of physical security of Longleat House and Longleat Estate. You will manage and develop a team who work on a variable 12-hour shift pattern of both days and nights to ensure a fluid 24-hour security operation. Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Planning, developing and implementing security policies and procedures
  • Conducting site security reviews, providing audit reports and highlighting risks
  • Overseeing the operation and maintenance of CCTV and other security systems
  • Managing budgets to ensure all targets are met
  • Effectively managing team members, providing leadership, advice, development and performance management to ensure achievement of department objectives
  • Liaising with colleagues at all levels on security issues, ensuring all security issues are dealt with calmly and efficiently with minimal disruption

What will I need to be considered for this Security Manager vacancy?

  • Proven senior security management experience within a corporate security / law enforcement / military or hospitality environment
  • High level of financial acumen with experience of managing budgets
  • Health and Safety qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH) or the willingness to work towards
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Exceptional communication skills with a friendly and helpful manner
  • Ability to calmly resolve conflicts
  • Reliable and punctual

Please note, a suitable level of physical fitness will be required to meet the physical demands of this Security Manager role. Successful applicants will be required to provide full checkable references, and will be subject to a satisfactory CRB / DBS Check.

What will I receive in return?

As the Security Manager you’ll receive a salary of £35,000 to £45,000, level dependent on experience,in addition to a range of attractive benefits that include; 29 days holiday inclusive of bank holidays, pension scheme, bonus scheme, complimentary tickets to Longleat and Cheddar Gorge and Caves, discounts on food and beverages and retail merchandise, along with life assurance cover and more perks.

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 40 hours per week on a 5 days out of 7 rota, including weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
