Aerospace Quality Engineer

Luxfer MEL Technologies is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of Magnesium and Zirconium based products and services to technology industries worldwide. We have approximately 300 employees across the UK & US.

Zirconium chemicals are produced at the Swinton & Flemington NJ sites from a range of raw materials to service a number of niche markets including, automotive, refinery, biomass, coatings, pharmaceutical and military/defence. Our lightweight magnesium alloys are machined or extruded to custom shapes and specifications to meet our customer requirements, and are used in high performance, safety critical aerospace, defence, healthcare, oil and gas and Formula 1.

The Role – Aerospace Quality Engineer

Reporting to the Director of Customer First and Quality, you will be responsible for accelerating the growth projects in the Aerospace sector.

Your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Reviewing customer orders for adherence to customer specifications and drawings for samples, prototypes and early stages of commercial supply
  • Facilitating the flow of materials to and from various sub-contractors, work sites, or departments
  • Taking ownership of the process working closely with vendors, sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of growth projects

The Package – Aerospace Quality Engineer

As the Aerospace Quality Engineer, you will benefit from:

  • A salary in the region of £32,000 to £37,000 with the level dependent on qualifications and experience

  • Working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Flexibility with working hours will be required due to the nature of the role

You will be based at our head office in Swinton, Greater Manchester.

Our Requirements – Aerospace Quality Engineer

  • Experience of working in a quality or engineering department, or in a similar role
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Science or an Engineering related subject
  • Maths and English GCSE to a minimum level of grade C
  • IT literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and ERP systems
  • Ability to plan and schedule project work
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Practical problems solving skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Good time management skills to meet tight deadlines, in a fast paced, pressurised and challenging environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team player who demonstrates a high level of commitment, and adopts a flexible and positive approach

Although not essential, the following would be highly desirable:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working in an Aerospace or Metals industry
  • Multilingual or fluent in another language
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
