Production Manager (Machine Shop and Castings)

The Production Manager (Heavy Engineering) role

Working alongside the Operations Director, as a Production Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day production within the Special Products factory, with the scope of work wide and varied, ranging from a small batch of machined components to large radiation shielded fabrications. You will be responsible for employees working across various shift patterns.

Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

  • Managing the day to day production in the machine shop and casting departments, ensuring defined KPIs are achieved and targeted improvements realised
  • Continually implementing Lean and Six Sigma based improvements in processes and personnel to deliver world class performance
  • Ensuring manufactured goods are delivered on time and to the highest quality, meeting technical specification and agreed labour hours
  • Reviewing the weekly and monthly production plan, ensuring production results are tracked and reported daily
  • Introducing and maintaining modern CIP techniques and LEAN tools to enhance manufacturing efficiency
  • Investigating complaints and acting as the catalyst for improvements
  • Overseeing the development of employees through coaching and performance management

What will I need to be considered for this Production Manager (Heavy Engineering) vacancy?

  • Proven production management experience gained within a heavy engineering environment
  • Solid knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma, and ISO 9000 systems
  • Excellent computer, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Superb communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships

The Package

As a Production Manager, you’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 35 hours per week,

Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 5pm and Friday, 8:30am to 12:30pm.
