Credit Controller

Calder Industrial Materials is a highly reputable manufacturing company with significant experience delivering high quality, tailored solutions for a wide range of customers worldwide. We are one of the UK’s leading building materials suppliers, delivering lead sheet and a wide range of ancillary products to builders’ merchants nationwide.

In addition, Calder are also the UK’s leading specialist in lead engineering. We design, manufacture, and install radiation shielding and other products for the nuclear, defence, healthcare, construction, industrial and research markets.

The Role – Credit Controller

Reporting to the Management Accountant, as the Credit Controller you will process accounts receivable transactions in an efficient and timely manner. Your focus will be on keeping aged debt to a minimum and ensuring sales ledger is maintained to a high level of accuracy, through direct contact with customers both on the telephone and in writing.

Your duties will include;

  • Chasing outstanding debt
  • Maintaining debtor days within agreed levels
  • Agreeing credit limits
  • Processing of cash receipts and matching to sales invoices
  • Processing of credit notes and manual invoices as required
  • Creating reports for outstanding debt and attend management meetings to provide updates on a regular basis
  • Escalating unresolved cases up to taking legal action
  • Forecasting debtor receipts on a monthly basis

The role is predominantly credit control, but it is envisaged that up to 25% of the role will be supporting the overall finance function including general ledger and holiday cover for purchase ledger and payroll.

The Package

As Credit Controller, you’ll benefit from:

  • A salary in the region of £23,000 to £26,000, with starting level dependent on experience
  • Permanent contract, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 5pm, and Friday 8:30am to 12:30pm
  • Based at our premises located on Sealand Road, on the outskirts of Chester City Centre

Our Requirements – Credit Controller

  • Proven experience in credit control
  • Working knowledge of computerised accounting software, ideally Sage Line 200, along with Microsoft Excel at intermediate level or above
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure without supervision
  • High level of accuracy
  • Literate and numerate
