Who will I be working with?

Arriva TrainCare provides Light and Heavy Train Maintenance services to the railway industry from its five strategically located maintenance depots. The successful, rapidly evolving organisation is going through a massive transformation at real pace, with a strong order book for 2020 and beyond.

What will this role of Materials Planner entail?

Working as part of the wider Materials Management Team, as a Materials Planner you’ll be responsible for ensuring optimum material availability for Heavy Maintenance projects using relevant tools and utilising the MRP / ERP systems. Your duties include:

  • Placing required material orders in a timely fashion and in line with purchasing procedure using SAP
  • Tracking material purchases using bill of materials (BOM) trackers
  • Expediting purchases direct with suppliers as required
  • Ensuring purchase order requisitions are provided with correct verification and authorisation
  • Managing key and risk items and liaising with the Project Engineer to ensure risks are flagged
  • Using trend information to adjust min/max levels, ensuring optimum levels of stock
  • Monitoring expected against actual usage, and investigating where there are discrepancies
  • Ensuring forward planning needs are monitored and orders are placed in line with relevant lead times

What will I need to be considered for this Materials Planner role?

  • Proven experience in a supply chain / materials management role, within an engineering environment
  • Experience of purchase order management and liaising with suppliers and managing performance
  • Good working knowledge of material non-conformance processes and inventory control techniques, such as min/max, 2 bin and stock scheduling
  • Demonstrable experience in maintaining a detailed bill of materials (BOM)
  • Good working knowledge of Word and Excel, and ideally SAP (or equivalent)

What will I receive in return?

As a Materials Planner, you’ll receive a salary of £30,750 per annum, plus attractive benefits including:

You’ll be employed on a permanent contract, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm from our Bristol depot, located just off the A4320.
