Six reasons why Llandudno is an amazing place to live and work

Our town in the spotlight this week is the Victorian resort of Llandudno, located in the county of Conwy in North Wales. With a wide variety of employers, plenty to see and do – from getting lost down the rabbit hole to spotting dolphins off the coast – and lots of delicious food, here’s why Llandudno is an amazing place to live and work.

Llandudno is a Victorian seaside resort located in Conwy County, and is one of the most popular destinations in North Wales. With a thriving tourism industry, the area has drawn people in since the early 1900’s and continues to do so today. The town was named in the top ten UK destinations by TripAdvisor in 2014 and is even home to TripAdvisor’s 2014 ‘Best Hotel in the World’.

As well as being a great place to spend your time, the area has plenty of job opportunities in a wide range of different industries. With a vast array of thriving businesses, some fantastic places to relax in your spare time, and scenery that will take your breath away, Llandudno is truly an amazing place to live and work.

Here’s six reasons why we think so…

Llandudno is a good town to access by public or private transport. Anyone who finds a job here is guaranteed to find their journey to work easy – with regular buses and trains to the town from most areas across the coast.  The A55 is just a five minute drive from Llandudno, there are bus stops across the town and the train station is situated right in the centre, so you don’t have to live in Llandudno to enjoy the benefits of working there.

A relaxing break

Getting out at lunch time for some fresh air is the best way to ensure a productive day of work. What better way to do this than with a stroll along the shores of Llandudno beach. Relax on a bench or the sand with your lunch and enjoy the sounds of the waves crashing at your feet – a world away from your working environment. Or why not grab an ice cream for a special treat and stroll down the famous pier.

The Llandudno West Shore beach has won the prestigious Blue Flag and Seaside Award for 2017, and the North Shore has won the Seaside Award for 2017, received by some of the cleanest beaches in the world – so a dip is not off the cards!

As well as the beach there is the beautiful scenery of Llandudno. The looming edges of the Little Orme and the Great Orme make for breath taking views even when the sun isn’t shining. Why not visit Angel Bay after work – it’s the perfect place to wind down and you may even spot the colony of grey seals that often rest on the shore. If you are especially lucky you might catch a rare glimpse of a pod of dolphins – just take a look at this amazing footage which was captured off the coast of Llandudno:

Why not enjoy your break with a tasty lunch? Llandudno has a plethora of food outlets to eat in or take away to help spice up your day. From the delicious hot sandwiches and prize winning pies at The Ham Bone, afternoon tea and famous scones at Characters Tea House, a seat at the hatter’s table at The Looking Glass Ice Cream Parlour and many more – workers in Llandudno are truly spoilt for choice when it comes to their culinary cravings.

Llandudno is steeped in history and the main point of interest is the connection with Alice in Wonderland. The real Alice in Wonderland – Alice Liddell – who inspired Lewis Carroll to write his novels, holidayed in Llandudno as a little girl. Her family’s holiday home on the West Shore was turned into a hotel, and it is said that her adventures in the town are what inspired ‘Through the Looking Glass’. Discover the statues of Wonderland’s characters around the town, follow the White Rabbit trail with the online app and take a trip to Happy Valley where you can sit on the Queen’s throne and see the mushrooms amongst the flowers of this CADW listed Public Park. The perfect place for creative inspiration.

We all have our shopping to do and sometimes going after a long day of work is the last thing we want. Llandudno has so many shops on offer making it a great place to complete your shopping during your lunch. From supermarkets and food shops to the shopping centre and boutique artisan shops – you will be sure to find anything you need in the town. The retail parks in Llandudno are host to a number of big stores, including the newly opened Primark, TK Maxx, Outfit, Debenhams, Next and many more. You will never be caught short for that last minute birthday present!

After work entertainment

It’s not just the day time activities that make Llandudno a great place to work, there’s a variety of restaurants, venues and bars that give Llandudno a lively night life. The Venue Cymru arena has drawn in big names over the years, from Morrissey and Stereophonics to Jason Manford and Jimmy Carr, and continues to be a key venue for artists and entertainers. A variety of high quality restaurants, such as North Wales’ famous seafood restaurant – Dylan’s, WildWood, Johnny Dough’s, The Cottage Loaf, Jaya Indian Restaurant and many more, makes for a good start or end to your night.
